OUR DIRECTOR
Merle Savage has been a barbershopper for over 20 years. He sang with the Sheldon, IA and Windom, MN chapters and served as director of the Worthington, MN chapter before moving to Rochester and becoming director of the Rochester Music Men. He has sung with may local quartets in each of these chapters. Merle currently lives in Rochester with his wife Shelly and four children. He directs the choirs at John Adams Middle School and has other various elementary school music education assignments in the Rochester community. In his "spare" time you can see him in performances at the Rochester Civic Theater. He also does some arranging for our chorus. OUR BOARD Our board members are made up of these positions and teams leaders:
THE BIGGER PICTURE The Rochester Music Men is the chorus name of the Rochester, MN chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the largest all-male singing society in the world. Our chapter is part of the SouthWest Division covering southern Minnesota and the LaCrosse, WI area. There are 6 divisions that make up the Land O' Lakes (LOL) District, which covers Minnesota, Wisconsin, the U.P. of Michigan, parts of North Dakota and parts of Manitoba and Ontario, Canada. There are 16 districts that encompass the international Society, covering the USA and Canada. This society is over 30,000 members strong. Other forms of Barbershop organizations exist around the world. |
